Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
- You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for eight (8) hours prior to the appointment.
- Please brush your teeth before surgery to clean your mouth, but do not swallow anything.
- No smoking/vaping/e-cig use for at least 48 hours before surgery.
- Although medical marijuana is legal in the State of Maryland, it can severely complicate your sedation. No marijuana use in any form for 5 days prior to your procedure.
- A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following anesthesia.
- Please wear loose fitting clothing with short sleeves, and low-heeled shoes (no flip-flops/sandals/Crocs®, and no high-heels).
- Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
- Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish/gel/acrylic nails on the day of surgery.
- If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, upset stomach or bowels, please notify the office.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with Drs. Wu or Woodward prior to your surgical date for instructions.
